Student’s Answer
I think parents cannot pay as much attention to their children as they did in the past,
especially in Japan. Here are two reasons why.
First, the number of households in which both parents work has been increasing because of low income of one parent since the depression over 20 years and women’s higher educational backgrounds. They are so busy to work and do the housechores that they do not have enough time to take care of their children. So suppotring facilities such as day care centers play an important role now.
Second, the percentage of nuclear families has been higher since High Economic Growth in Japan. Parents are likely to take care of their children alone, which causes much stress on them. Thus, some parents depend upon smartphone applications to have their children play with.
In conclusion, I agree parents can look after children less than before in Japan. (150 words)
