A New Invention: Shoes that Grow with a Child
画期的な発明に心を打たれ、そして世界の貧困について考えさせられる記事でした。

As we all believe children grow really quick, not only with their height so as the size of their feet.

Unfortunately, many families cannot afford to buy new shoes each time a child needs them. As a result, about 300 million children around the world go barefoot.
Those children are prone to different types of diseases and parasites from the soil.

Kenton Lee created The Shoe That Grows. He wanted the shoe work and last so long.
It grows in three places: the front; it can also grow on the side with Velcro; and on the back with our buckle.
It can last up to five years. The bottom is compressed rubber like tire rubber. The top is just high-quality leather.

The shoe comes in two sizes: small that fits children aged 4 to 9 and large for children aged 9 to 14.

Children’s feet size really grow fast. Personally, I usually buy new shoes for my daughters almost every year.
I think many parents in Japan do this as well. But I know a lot of parents in developing countries cant do the same.

I think this invention offers solutions to some children’s issues in developing nations.

Firstly, health problem. For instance, this pair of shoes protects children’s feet from the risk of being infected to any diseases and parasites from the soil.y

Secondly, it can save money. The shoe comes in two sizes. The smaller size is for children aged 4 to 9 and the larger one is for children aged 9 to 14. So parents are only required to buy 2 pairs of shoes in a span of 10 years.

I hope many children can get this kind of shoes and keep their feet safe. So they can live healthy.
I don’t know what I can do for them but we should know these hard facts facing developing countries.
